Fluoxetine is indicated for the treatment of canine aggression and canine seperation anxiety in conjunction with a behavior modification plan.
Adverse effects included (listed in decreasing order of frequency): decreased appetite, depression/lethargy, shaking/shivering/tremors, vomiting, restlessness and anxiety, seizures, aggression, diarrhea, mydriasis, vocalization, weight loss, panting, confusion, incoordination, and hypersalivation.
Fluoxetine should be used with caution in animals with diabetes mellitus because it may alter blood glucose levels. Doses may need to be reduced in animals with severe hepatic impairment.
20mg/5mL fluoxetine.
1-2 mg/kg once daily.
