FEEDING FOR ADULT MAINTENANCE: It is important that you feed Pro Plan to your adult cat “free choice” throughout the day, rather than as just a single feeding only at mealtime. Food intake required to maintain ideal body condition will vary, depending on age, activity and environment. Watch your cat’s weight and adjust food amounts accordingly. If you have a kitten, or a pregnant or nursing cat, you should continue feeding an appropriate Pro Plan kitten formula.
MAKING THE SWITCH TO PRO PLAN: Although you’ll be anxious to see the difference Pro Plan can make in your cat, please allow 7 - 10 days to ease the transition from your cat’s current food. Each day, simply feed a little less of the previous food and a little more Pro Plan until you’re feeding Pro Plan exclusively. This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets.
FEED PRO PLAN ADULT 7+ FORMULAS: For maximum benefit, feed this product exclusively or mix with any of the flavors of Pro Plan Adult 7+ wet cat food entrées. When feeding Pro Plan Adult 7+ Complete Essentials dry only, please refer to the feeding chart for recommended daily amounts based on your cat's body weight. When feeding dry and wet together, decrease the daily amount of Pro Plan Adult 7+ Complete Essentials by 1/4 cup for every 3 oz can of Pro Plan Adult 7+ wet offered. Adjust as needed to maintain your cat’s ideal body condition and avoid excess weight gain. Divide total daily amount into 2 or more meals. Contains a source of live (viable) naturally occurring micro organisms. Provide adequate fresh water in a clean container daily.For your pet’s health, see your veterinarian regularly.
Gradually transition your pet to any new food over the course of 7-14 days to help avoid the digestive upset that abrupt changes in diet can cause. If your pet tends to be on the sensitive side, it may be best to take a little extra time.
Start by feeding your pet a mix of 25% new food and 75% old food for the first few days.
Then, increase the amount of new food to about 50% and feed that half-and-half mix for a few days.
Proceed to feeding 75% new food/25% old food for the next few days.
Complete the transition by feeding just the new food on its own.
