- For adult dogs, feed approximately 2 3.5 oz. cans or pouches per day per 4 lbs. of body weight or 1 1/2 9 oz. cans per day per 10 lbs. of body weight.
- For puppies, offer food several times a day, feed up to twice this amount.
- Pregnant or nursing dogs may require two to four times their normal feeding.
- The amount to feed will vary based upon age, activity level, breed, size, and environment. Please use the feeding guidelines as an initial recommendation and adjust food amount as needed to maintain proper weight. Always provide access to clean, fresh water. Wet food should be changed at least twice daily in order to prevent spoilage.
The best way to transition to a new food is to switch gradually over the course of 7-10 days. For example, make a mixture that contains 25% of the new food and 75% of the old food and feed that for three days. Then make it 50-50 for three more days, then 75% new food and 25% old food for three more days. If your dog seems comfortable with this progression, you can start feeding 100% new food. If at any time your pet starts vomiting, has loose stools, or appears constipated, slow the rate at which you are switching the food. If problems continue to occur, consult your veterinarian.
